Thieves look for garage door openers left in cars

Law enforcement officers say that neighborhood and home thieves will frequently look in cars and other vehicles for garage door openers.  Just like leaving a purse in your car that passersby can see, leaving a garage door opener out may invite thieves.

Leaving a garage door opener in your car may not be a problem when your vehicle is parked at your job, the store, etc., but if your car is parked outside your home, someone may see this and try to break into your car to get it, knowing that they will be able to enter your garage, and possibly home.

Police recommend that people keep their garage door openers in the glovebox or another hidden compartment in their vehicle, or carry it inside with them.  In addition, officers remind drivers to always lock their cars.

If your garage door has stopped functioning, it may be because your garage door opener needs to be repaired.  Contact the garage door opener repair company in Austin, Cowart Door Systems, at (512) 459-3467 to learn more.
