Garage door opener problems cause for concern for Ardsley Park residents
Metropolitan Police officers of Savannah-Chatham are investigating multiple garage door complaints of Ardsley Park area residents.
According to complaints, residents’ garage door openers suddenly failed to work at the same time on April 11, causing some residents’ to believe that thieves had attempted to hack into and change the remote frequency to access the garage doors. But responding officers did not find any break in incidents or any reports of robbery in the area.
Capt. DeVonn Adams said the frequency interruption may be the cause of the failure but also knows that hackers can use advanced technologies, with which the police are not entirely familiar. Residents are advised to be watchful of their garage while officers continue to patrol the area.
Police were later told garage doors devices produced before 2008 can be affected by a new tower going on line and advised residents to have their units adjusted by their garage door company.
