Police officials remind residents to keep garage doors closed

Police in the Newport Beach area are urging are residents to close their garage doors because thieves find homes with open garage doors to be easy targets and thousands of dollars worth of property is stolen this way each year.

According to police officials, the most property is stolen when garage doors are left open during the day when there is no one in the garage and this is why it is a good idea to keep the door closed at all times.

Other tips include, locking your vehicle even when it is in the garage and also lock bikes and scooters as well. Also, keep the pedestrian door locked so that a burglar can not get into the home from the open garage door. Police have also stated that residents should call authorities if any suspicious activity is seen in the area.
