A mysterious garage door remote malfunction has left residents in Reading, Pennsylvania baffled. For two-three weeks last month, dozens of residents’ garage door openers stopped working.

One man said that he would have to be inches from his garage door for the remote to work. People all over the city with different brands experienced problems with their garage doors in the same weeks span. Investigators and residents are still left in the dark as to what could have caused such a widespread malfunction across brands. Radio waves could cause interference with the remote’s signal, but that is unlikely due to the large scale of garages’ affected.
