Insulated vs. uninsulated garage doors

Insulated garage doors keeps the inside temperate warm in the winter and cool in the summer, but does that mean they are right for you?

Many experts agree that if you live in areas that have extreme hot or cold weather and/or have an attached garage, an insulated garage door is best. Insulated garage doors can keep the utility bill low because it keeps the home more energy efficient. By keeping out cold air in the winter and keeping in cool air in the summer, the air conditioning does not have to work as hard to keep a constant temperature. If you have a room above the garage, insulation can also help block out noise.

However, those who live in areas with mild weather and have a detached garage, an uninsulated garage door is the way to go. Concerns about energy costs are much lower since air conditioning is usually not installed in detached garages.
