Fire Department investigates garage fire in southwest Austin

The Austin Fire Department is currently investigating a fire that occurred in a residential garage in southwest Austin.

According to reports, a 6-year-old girl was with her family in their home on Monday night when, at approximately 8 p.m., she saw flames coming from an unattached garage near the home. The girl’s mother got all of her children out of the house and the fire department was called. The fire caused no injuries, although significant damage was done to the garage, as well as a shed.

A neighbor of the family said that she heard popping noises for ten minutes prior to the garage becoming consumed with flames. The fire department does not know the cause of the fire as of yet.
